About Credit Cards and the True Die Hard Sports Fans

There's always a first time for everything, and being a die hard sports fan with your club credit card is not exceptional. The question in today's ReiVRE: Money Talk-Credit Card is – "Can sports royalty be tamed?”

About Credit Cards and the True Die Hard Sports Fans

When it comes to supporting favourite sports teams, some fans will go to any lengths to show their allegiance to their favourite team. From personalised replica shirts, mugs to take to work and even decorations for their car – fans the world over like to spend money letting the rest of us know just who they follow – whether it is football, soccer or basketball.

For some fans, this is even true of their credit cards – for what could be more of a show of loyalty to hand over a piece of plastic with your team’s badge on it when paying for something?

Football-based cards have become big business, with some companies offering services such as 0% credit cards for loyal fans, either through the club themselves or drumming up business outside the ground on match day.

Some clubs run affiliate programs with major credit card providers, with the opportunity to offer discounts on items such as season tickets to loyal fans, with some putting a percentage of the amount earned back into the club themselves – usually through contributions to youth team systems.

Other schemes offer fans the chance to earn reward points on purchases, which can be used in the club shop or towards prize draws to win items exclusive to the club – such as signed shirts and other collectibles any fan would dream of owning.

When applying for sports-based credit cards it’s advisable to read the small print, for whilst many offer a 0% deal to begin with, many supporters may find themselves in difficulty when the interest-free period ends.

However, despite fears over interest rates, the rewards that can be earned using points systems are attractive to sports fans, and can take their support of their team to a new level.

Here are the credit card survival tips that you need to know…

With so many of us struggling to make ends meet as a result of the ongoing credit crunch, juggling the finances can be a frustrating process.

Consumers are now subject to rising levels of debt on every aspect of everyday life. From the cost of food to rising petrol prices which have left some with no alternative than to cycle to work in order to save money. And yet, many of us are still relying on our credit cards to get us through everyday life. Payments can be spread over time, but it can be a risky business if you don’t keep track of your finances.

Interest-free deals on balance transfers can be handy for when you want to consolidate debt, however if you’re unable to keep up the monthly repayments it could have disastrous effects on your credit rating.

So what precautions can you take in order to ensure you’re not sinking further into debt?

· Try and pay more than the minimum amount each month in order to both reduce your debt and shave a little amount off the amount of interest each month.

· Be wary of how much you spend on credit cards each month – limit your use to emergency purchases only or when it isn’t possible to pay by either debit card or good old-fashioned cash.

· Ensure you pay your credit card bill as soon as it arrives, late charges can be costly – especially if you’re on a budget – and even though it may only be a small amount it could accumulate over time and thus lead to more debt to clear.

· Pay off portions of the balance in lump sums when possible, anything extra can come in very handy for clearing a balance quickly and can help ease the financial fears for another month at least.

· Look for cards which offer good rates on balance transfers, 0% introductory deals can be useful in the run up to holidays, but make sure you pay off the balance before the interest-free period ends, or you may find yourself in for a nasty surprise when the interest kicks in.

If you do find yourself in financial difficulty as a result of credit cards and other debts, it is advisable to speak to your credit card provider in order to find out if there’ll be any assistance available should you run into difficulties.

Alternatively there are a number of charities and support groups which can offer free and confidential advice on a range of debt problems, and don’t be afraid to speak to them either - for you’re not alone in feeling the squeeze

How to Get Your Airmiles Credit Cards and What You Must Know

There's always a first time for everything, and getting Air Miles Credit Cards is not exceptional. The question in today's ReiVRE: Money Talk-Credit Cards is – "Which Credit Card can it offer flying mileage and allow you to earn it?"

So you want a credit card to earn mileage on an airline. You need to think about a couple of things. Can I get a card from a large airline where I live? And which card will give me the benefits the fastest?

You may not know that a credit card offering flying mileage only allows you to earn it from one airline. If the largest available airline in your area has many destinations you'll have a lot of options you can enjoy. Some don't realize if you choose a credit card sponsored by a banking institution, you have even more freedom. You're wondering why that is so? With bank cards you can use the miles are more airlines. This is especially important if you live in an area where there is no major airline that you can go almost wherever you'd like. An additional important fact is the minimum number of miles needed prior to using them to travel is much less than a credit card sponsored by an airline. Be wary, the bank cards can have an awful bunch of restrictions you wouldn't expect.

Membership and annual fees can vary greatly for different types of cards. Most major credit card companies offer standard, gold and platinum air miles credit cards. Keep in mind that the better the option, the higher the fees. Gold and platinum cards offer high credit limits but membership and annual fees are also higher and these add up quickly. Most major credit card companies offer introductory air miles cards with 0 % interest. Why? Because they want your credit card business. If interest rates are of concern for you, an air miles card should not be the card you choose because interest rates tend to be very high. Many air miles credit cards have a minimum number of miles that have to accumulate before you receive a free or discounted trip. Be sure to read the fine print and then read it again. Be sure you understand all of the stipulations.

Do you travel quite often for pleasure? For business? If this is you, these air miles can be a wonderful benefit. Remember you can use these cards to buy everything. Groceries, gasoline, clothing, you name it. For doing so you get miles and can have greatly discounted tickets to wherever you would like to travel. Also, you can often get extra miles went you spend at certain locations or selected flight destinations. It is also nice that you usually receive extra bonus miles when you get started with a new card.

Believe it or not there can be some down sides to owning such a credit card. You will often have to deal with higher interest rates. However, if you pay them off regularly and use it wisely to bank miles, it can really be worth it. Many find it tempting to spend money they really don't need to just so they can rack up miles, feeling they supposedly saved money in the end. You can see the flawed logic in that, I'm sure. You really need to be sure to use these types of air miles cards with a clear heas so you can benefit from their positive attributes.
